The Foreign Policy Association of the Republic of Moldova (APE) celebrates 20 years of activity. Founded in 2004 by a group of Moldovan experts, public figures, former and current senior government officials and diplomats, the APE has set itself the goal of developing and implementing a credible, effective and pragmatic foreign policy. For two decades, the APE has been dedicated to promoting Moldova’s democratization, territorial reintegration and European integration.
The APE has had a significant impact on the Europeanisation and democratization of the country. Through the studies produced by its experts, the APE has energized domestic political processes and improved the quality of foreign policy debates in Moldova. It has also facilitated discussion platforms on foreign policy issues and contributed to a better understanding of Moldova’s foreign policy options through its monthly newsletters.
We are proud that, over two decades, several generations of young specialists and policy analysts have started their careers at the APE, training and becoming important figures in state institutions and foreign diplomatic missions.
In its 20 years of activity, the APE has established numerous national and international partnerships and provided the general public with independent analysis on foreign policy and the promotion of the country’s national interests in the international arena.
By organizing events in three distinct programmes – European Studies, Security Studies and Eastern Studies – the APE has contributed to the development of debate and knowledge in these fields. One of the most notable events was the Forum on European Integration, which brought together decision-makers from Moldova and the European Union, politicians, opinion-makers, civil society representatives, political parties and international institutions. Among the topics discussed during the IXth edition of this forum were the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, the country’s reform process, national and regional security, the fight against corruption and the promotion of human rights. Special attention was also always paid to the Transnistrian region and the country’s reintegration process.
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the APE extends its sincere congratulations to all those who have worked and are working within the organization, especially its founders, members and experts. It also thanks colleagues, partners, donors, beneficiaries and all those who have supported and contributed to the development and implementation of the APE’s mission.
