Compendium of Polish Aid for Moldova

50

Moldova is a country that has adopted a consistent pro-Western course for several years. Reforms are being implemented to overcome developmental delays and enable European integration, as well as to overcome the economy’s dependence on Russian influence. These actions are being taken in the face of challenges generated by the ongoing war in the neighborhood and attempts at internal destabilization by Russia. During this period, Poland has been involved in supporting Moldovan transformation and reforms in various sectors. There has been a rapid increase in Polish development aid for Moldova, a thriving office of the Solidarity Fund PL operates in Chisinau, Polish advisors are affiliated with the Moldovan government, and various development aid projects are being implemented. Moldova is also an important area of investment for Polish companies. Almost 100 companies with Polish capital are actively operating there, and Polish investments in 2021 alone were worth EUR 11.5 million.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with the “Compendium of Polish Aid for Moldova”, in which we want to present a cross-section of the aid provided to Moldova and Moldovan citizens by the Polish government, local governments, businesses and non-governmental organizations. The examples of Polish aid provided mainly come from open sources, and when possible, we also provide the value of the aid provided. Due to the wide scope of aid and often incomplete information on support, the catalogue is not and cannot be complete. Polish activity in Moldova is multi-track and concerns both development aid for local governments and financial support in the face of the dramatic increase in energy and gas prices resulting from Russian aggression against Ukraine. Polish services and public administration support their Moldovan counterparts, both in equipment and in transferring experience.

This publication was created as part of the implementation of the project “For Moldova – Pentru Moldova”, the aim of which is to create a platform for Polish-Moldovan dialogue. The Warsaw Enterprise Institute implements this project in partnership with the Poland-Moldova Development and Entrepreneurship Center, the Foreign Policy Association of the Republic of Moldova (APE) and Startup Moldova. The compendium is available in three language versions – Polish, Romanian and English.
