Current bilateral relations between Moldova and Poland are characterized by a shift towards political and military cooperation. This is caused by a number of external and internal factors resulting from the need to seek the best solutions for the national security of both countries, which are the result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. As a result, the scope of cooperation areas in Moldovan-Polish relations has significantly expanded, shifting the focus from the previous, rather general and rather ceremonial relations to the activation of military-political dialogue, Polish assistance in reforming the defense sector of Moldova, modernization of its armed forces and training of military personnel.

At the same time, Poland is building its military and defense potential, providing military assistance to Ukraine and trying to diversify its military production portfolio as much as possible. All this is happening against the backdrop of constantly growing demand for military equipment and ammunition in Europe. According to analysts’ forecasts, this trend will continue in the medium term. This gives Poland additional incentives to modernize its arms industry as soon as possible, in order to help the countries of the region, supporting their European aspirations, and thus bring the countries of NATO’s eastern flank even closer together.

The report was elaborated in the framework of the “For Moldova – Pentru Moldova”, which is established with the aim to create a platform for Polish-Moldovan dialogue, which will serve bilateral cooperation in the most promising areas and the promotion of Polish aid activities. The project assumes the implementation of interconnected activities, both of a publishing and seminar nature. Reports, articles and interviews on the state of Polish-Moldovan relations in various sectors and the prospects for their strengthening will be published and promoted in popular Moldovan portals, as well as through the network of Moldovan partners: The Poland-Moldova Development and Entrepreneurship Center, Startup Moldova and the Foreign Policy Association of Moldova (APE).
